My Training Methods

I believe in training that is functional to everyday life patterns. I make sure to teach the most modern up-to-date training methods, focusing on balanced training programs that help individuals live a more fulfilled and athletic life.  My sessions are done using whole-body movements, barbells, cables, kettlebells, free weights, ring suspenders, climbing ropes, as well as lots of other equipment that enhances functional stability. This system works because it, not only uses more muscle groups to adapt from such stimulus, but helps better condition the body from the stresses the environment can bring. I specialise in fat loss, muscle gain, sports conditioning (particularly football), CrossFit and high-intensity interval training (HIIT) methods.

My Training Background

I was formerly an island player for Jersey, playing as a striker, and have had a lot of experience playing with professional and semi-professional football clubs (Salisbury Town, Southport, Accrington Stanley and Marine FC).  After winning all competitions in Jersey with Jersey Scottish FC, including the league, the Upton, and  in 2014 I looked for a new challenge. Currently I now train and compete in CrossFit.

Throughout my youth I played for top clubs in Jersey, gaining a place in Jersey’s School of Excellence for a number of years.  I progressed from there to feature for Jersey Under 16’s, Under 18’s and Under 21’s.  I moved to England at the age of 22 and had trials at Salisbury Town FC and Southport FC.  While I was there I was spotted by semi-professional side Marine FC, and signed for their first-team squad, playing against teams such as Tranmere Rovers FC, Macclesfield Town FC and Altringham FC.  However, a serious ankle injury kept me out of football for over a year and a half.  Once properly rehabilitated, I was aged 24, and playing lower league football for Formby FC, whilst also improving my education and doing sports coaching for children in Liverpool. At 25, I decided to join Inter Football Academy. After scoring a hat-trick v Accrington Stanley FC reserves they took me on for trials v Macclesfield Town FC and Burnley FC.  Due to family commitments, I returned home and played for the island of Jersey, representing them in the 2011 Island Games, and coming away with a bronze medal. After this successful 2010/11 season on the island, I was also nominated for Jersey Footballer of the Year. After completing the season in 2011/12, I helped Jersey win the FA Inter-League Cup for the first time in their history. We represented England in the UEFA Regions Cup for the upcoming season, the highest possible achievement Jersey football has ever seen. In 2013 I was nominated again for Jersey Footballer of the Year after winning 5 trophies with champions of the Channel Islands Jersey Scottish. With no new routes for progression for me in football in Jersey, I then needed a new challenge and so turned to the sport of CrossFit. Since 2015 I have been developing my skills, learning the sport, and gradually improving on my weaknesses. I now compete in various CrossFit competitions throughout the year, most notably Battle of the Beasts. My next competition will be at the end of 2016, and one that keeps me motivated to train hard and keep nutrition on point. I am always trying to help develop the sport on the island for any athletes that are interested in getting involved.
